Save the Date! Live Tweet on Maternity Leave and Balancing Work and Family

The working mother has long become a contested icon of modern times–able to juggle career and family and “do it all.”  But in reality this balance between work and family life can be difficult to attain. At the same time, it is not a model that will necessarily work for everyone or that all women want to follow.

Have you taken leave from work to raise your family, or returned to work after maternity leave? How have employer policies and work environments accommodated your needs, flexible work hours, and leaves? What challenges have you encountered when trying to re-enter the workforce after an extended leave? We want to hear from you, WARriors!

Co-hosted by WAR Co-chair Leslie Van Veen McRoberts (@lslevanmac) and steering committee member Helen Kim (@hlnkim), follow @womenarchivists for our next live tweet on December 4th, 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm EST. We’ll use the hashtag #saawar. We hope you’ll join the conversation–we’re looking forward to hearing from you!
